Katie Heckman

Licensed Professional Counselor and Practice Owner

I believe that you have the ability to make positive changes to your thinking style and relationship patterns. I have walked alongside many clients who seek to alter the thinking and lifestyle patterns that complicate our already-complicated daily experiences. I hope to empower and guide you in making these important changes. Areas of focus include anxiety, depression, attention deficient hyperactivity disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, life transitions, self esteem and cancer-related challenges.

Both my style and office setting are warm and casual. I hope to create a genuine connection with each of my clients as I believe that the relationship that we share will create an environment in which growth is possible. My work focuses on individual sessions with teens and adults who are open to meaningful change.

Katie is a licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania and regularly meets with clients both virtually and in-person. Read more about her on Psychology Today

Joanna Hurwitz

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Welcome! I work with adolescents (16+) & adults, most frequently young adults. I particularly enjoy working with transitional issues - changes in school, jobs, family, relationships, identity, etc. Often, my clients are dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, and/or interpersonal conflict. I value working with folks with a range of backgrounds, races, faiths, genders, sexualities, and lifestyles. I see people through a systems lens, acknowledge oppressive barriers to mental wellness, and encourage reflection on cultural impact. My ideal client is open minded, patient, and motivated for change.

I work to meet you where you're at and use a person-centered approach, whether that's structured skill building or an empathetic ear. I work mostly from an ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) framework, but also incorporate elements of CBT, DBT, and IPT, and EDMR when helpful.

I'm glad to have you here. It shows you've taken a huge first step towards healing, processing, and growth, and I'm honored to support you. The extras: I’m a Cancer sun ISFJ who enjoys pottery, fiction, travel, hiking, and watching reality TV with my dog.

Joanna is licensed Clinical Social Worker in both Maryland and Pennsylvania and regularly meets with clients both virtually and in-person. Read more about her on Psychology Today.

Perhaps relationships are complicated and you are looking to improve your interpersonal skills? My passion as a Licensed Professional Counselor is to help clients understand and improve their mental health so they can reach their goals and thrive in their day to day lives.

My treatment approach utilizes Dialectal Behavior Therapy which provides my clients with tools and skills to navigate their world and increase their overall well-being. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which provides insight into our thought patterns and provides a framework for making real and lasting changes.

My therapeutic approach is casual and I aim to create an environment in which my clients feel safe and supported. I enjoy using various modalities including talk therapy, worksheets, and art therapy depending on my clients’ goals and preferences.
